Battersea Power Station
Challenge
Run a placemaking campaign for Circus West Village, the first phase of the Battersea Power Station development open to the public.
How could we build excitement about the site as a riverside living, food and drink destination when it was largely still in construction?
Our Smart Imagination solution
Our Electric Living creative campaign drew on the site’s Power Station past, whilst simultaneously presenting its vibrant future as a place through a series of interlinked activities that evolved as the site took shape:
Food, drink and leisure hub positioning
- Our media campaign supported each tenant opening and provided a year-round presence and messaging for Circus West Village to its target audience. We launched the destination’s food festivals driving footfall and boosting retailer sales (some by over 100%).
Maximising calendar moments
- Our ideas such as illuminating Battersea’s iconic chimneys red for Valentine’s Day delivered widespread media interest, while campaigns for Easter and Christmas secured cut through for peak trading periods.
Cultural leadership
- We launched Battersea Power Station’s cultural strategy, its first public art competition and introduced the development to leading arts organisations. Our campaign generated high profile national, international and trend-setting media that helped underline Battersea’s credibility and leadership as an emerging cultural destination.
Partnership-focussed tourism
- We wrote the destination’s tourism strategy. This will deliver an integrated travel trade and consumer campaign targeting UK an overseas tourists to visit and spend at Battersea Power Station.
